Standards alignment, state by state

Twenty states and the District of Columbia adopted the NGSS as written — the performance-expectation codes on a unit apply directly. Twenty-four more wrote their own standards from the same National Research Council framework, so the three-dimensional structure matches and only the codes differ; those need a crosswalk, not a rewrite. Six states run standards showing little or no NGSS influence and need their own mapping. Since 2013, 44 states and DC have adopted NGSS or framework-based standards.
Crosswalk state is per unit and editable in the CMS. A unit is never advertised as aligned to a state until someone has actually done the mapping and signed it.
